The film draws parallels to the epic Mahabharata where shades of Krishna, Arjuna, Bheema, Duryodhana, and Karna can be seen in the character portrayed. Critically, the movie was well-received and earned about 143 crores at the Box Office. It has portrayed the murkiness and tricks of politicians and the struggle very well. Gulaal is an Indian movie that is based on a Political Crime drama movie which was released in 2009 and directed by Anurag and stars Kay Kay Menon, Raj Singh Chaudhary, Abhimanyu Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, Ayesha Mohan, Jesse Randhawa, Aditya Srivastava, Piyush Mishra. The film explores themes such as the pursuit of power and perceived injustices. It was a story of the struggle for power, it showed a gritty underbelly of student politics and secessionist politics in the state of Rajasthan. A taut script and faultless portrayal of characters made the movie a hit among the multiplex crowd. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Dwarka Anand, a man who is a firm believer of truth and an inherent believer in society who wants his son to give back to society and the nation all that they have given him. Manav and Arjun decided to construct a regional party to eliminate corruption and reconstruct the entire system for the welfare of the common man.
Yuva (Youth) is an Indian Political drama movie directed by Mani Ratnam and released in 2004. The film is a remake of the Tamil film Aaytha Ezhuthu and is based on the storyline of students entering politics and stars Ajay Devgan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Kareena Kapoor, Esha Deol, Sonu Sood. The film tells the stories of three young men from completely different strata of society and how one fateful incident on Kolkata’s Howrah Bridge which changes their lives forever. It showed the need for revolutionizing Indian Politics and the involvement of Youth. It was a story of the positive impact of student politics. The soundtrack features six songs by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics by Mehboob.

Rann (Battle) is a Hindi political drama thriller movie which was directed by Ram Gopal Varma in 2010 and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sudeep, Ritesh Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal. Rann received positive reviews and was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Times of India gave the film four stars, calling it a “riveting experience.”Rann is a corrupt politician’s chronicle set on the backdrop of the broadcasting business.
