This movie is directed by Kalidas. It is released in 1962.It is one of the classic old Hindi Comedy movies starring Kishore Kumar, Madhubala, Helen, and Pran. This film is Based on the Hollywood Movies” you ‘re Never Too Young. Kishore Kumar as Vijay is the good-for-nothing son of a rich industrialist. Vijay decided to leave for Bombay and walk out of his home and start his new life in the big city. But he doesn’t have enough money to get himself a ticket! Vijay gets a burst of inspiration from a plump child called Munnah, who is waiting in line with his mother. The rest of the film follows Vijay’s exploits as he avoids capture by the diamond smuggler and his girlfriend romance Rajnidevi while avoiding her auntie-ji and reunites with her father.

2. Golmaal (1979)

The movie is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and N.C. Sippy with music by Rahul Dev Burman. It is released in 1979. It is one of the best old Hindi Comedy movies starring Amol Palekar, Utpal Dutt, Bindiya Goswami, David. Amol Palekar as Ramprasad Dashrathprasad Sharma is looking for a better paying job. He and his sister have no relatives except Dr.Kedar. Ramprasad has a moustache. He takes care of other problems by wearing kurta. He is a hardworking guy. This movie becoming a Mega Hit reached the top spot in 1979 in terms of box office collections. The film till now remains as popular and favourite among the audiences as it used to be and is regarded as one of the finest comedy films of Indian Cinema.

This movie is directed by Gulzar and produced by Jai Singh. It is released in 1982. It is a old Hindi comedy movie starring Sanjeev Kumar, Deven Kumar, Moushumi Chatterjee, Padma Chavan, Aruna Irani. The film is about two pairs of identical twins separated at birth and how their lives go haywire when they meet in adulthood. It is based on Shakespeare ‘s ‘A comedy of errors’. All characters are innocent and destiny plays the main role in bringing all characters in one place. In 2014 director Sajid Khan made the reboot version of Angoor (named Humshakals) in a more confusing way as it shows every character in triple role. This film also won many awards like Best Comedian (Deven Verma), Best Actor(Sanjeev Kumar).

4. Padosan(1968)

This movie is directed by Jyoti Swaroop. It was produced by Mehmood, N.C. Sippy and released in 1968, starring Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu, Kishore Kumar, Mehmood and Rahul Dev Burman. A simple man falls in love with his new neighbour. He enlists the help of his musical theatre friend to woo the lovely girl-next-door away from her musical teacher named Master Pillai/Masterji(mehmood). It is based on the Bengali story Pasher Bari by Arun Chowdhury, which was first adapted in Bengali in 1952 as Pasher Bari directed by Sudhir Mukherjee and starring Bhanu Bannerjee. This movie is written by Rajendra Krishan.

5. Chachi 420(1997)

The movie is directed and produced by Kamal Hassan. It was released in 1997 and stars Kamal Hassan, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Tabu, Johnny Walker, Ayesha Jhulka and Nassar. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Visual Bhardwaj, consisting of five tracks. It is one of the superior old Hindi comedy movies which i also watched. This film is a remake of the Tamil film Avvai Shanmughi. Jaiprakash Paswan aka Jai and Janki Paswan are fighting a divorce case. Janki is the only daughter of Durgaprasad Bhardwaj, a staunch Brahmin businessman. Wealthy Janki falls in love with poor Jaiprakash, much to the displeasure of her Parents, and ends up getting married…

6. Chameli Ki Shaadi(1986)

This movie is directed by Basu Chatterjee. It was released in 1986 and stars Anil Kapoor, Amrita Singh, Amjad Khan, Pankaj Kapur and Ram Sethi. This movie is one of the top old Hindi comedy movies satire on caste system in India. Charandas is a bachelor who aspires to become a wrestler. Charandas lives a poor lifestyle with his older brother, Bhajandas, and Bhabhi in a small town. He trains himself under the tutelage of Mastram Pehelwan, who preaches and practices absolute abstinence. The film is also one of the examples of a female-centric movie where Amrita Singh is the headstrong, young, outspoken Chameli.

7. Hero No.1(1997)

This movie is directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani. It was released in 1967 and stars Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor, Satish Shah, and Kedar Khan. Govinda as Rajesh Malhotra is the son of a wealthy businessman Dhanraj Malhotra (Kedar Khan). Govinda escapes from his home and reaches Europe. Two young Indians, Meena and Rajesh, meet in Europe and fall in love with each other, and promise to get married when they return back to India. Dhanraj comes along with Rajesh on their way and nearby sludge comes splashing over Dhanraj, thus completing Dinanath’s revenge. Rajesh and Meena are getting married.

8. Hera Pheri(2000)

This movie is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by AG.Nadiadwala. It was released in 2000 and stars Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal and Tabu. Akshay Kumar as Raju is a tenant of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte aka Babu Bhaiyaa and has not paid his rent for a long time. Raju does not believe in hard work and wants to earn easy money without hard work. He con everybody. The film ends with the trio breaking into uncontrollable laughter. It is one of my favourite old Hindi comedy movies which I personally watch.

9. Chhoti Si Baat(1975)

This movie is directed by Basu Chatterjee and produced by B.R Chopra. It was released in 1975 and stars Amol Palekar, Vidya Sinha, Ashok Kumar and Asrani. It is a romantic comedy film about a painfully shy young man, Pradeep (Amol Palekar), who lacks confidence and fails to stand up for his conviction. He is a shy accountant in Bombay who dreams of romantic Prabha. The film became a box office hit and also earned Filmfare nominations and a Filmfare Award for best screenplay for Basu Chatterjee. This film is written by Sharad joshi and dialogue by Basu Chatterjee.

10. Bombay To Goa(1972)

This movie is directed by S.Ramanathan and produced by N.C. Sippy. It was released in 1972 and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aruna Irani, Shatrughan Sinha, Nazir Hussain. When college student Mala dreams of becoming a Bollywood movie actress, her dreams begin materialising into reality. Mala is opposed to marrying anyone she has not met. The bus journey was adventurous with the passengers, a totally mixed bunch, from all over India, different cultures, religions and faiths, all thrown together for this journey. The bus is under the control of driver Rajesh (Anwar Ali) and conductor Khanna (Mehmood). It is one of the good Hindi comedy movies to watch.

11. Chupke Chupke(1975)

This movie is directed and produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and released in 1975. It is based on Bengali story Chhadobeshi by Upendranath Ganguly and stars Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Om Prakash, Asrani, Lily Chakravorty, Usha Kiran, David Abraham Cheulkar. Professor Parimal Tripathi is a botany professor who falls in love with Sulekha Chaturvedi during a women’s college botany excursion. Sukumar and Vasudha end up marrying in a temple where Haripat Bhaiyya coerces Pyaremohan to kill himself so that Parimal can surface.

12. Satte Pe Satta(1982)

This movie is directed by Raj N.Sippy and produced by Romu N.Sippy. It was released in 1988 and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Ranjeeta Kaur, Amjad Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Sachin, Paintal, Inderjeet and Kanwaljeet Singh. Satte Pe Satta is the story of seven brothers living in a large farmhouse. The first half of the movie reveals the life of the brothers who grew up under the leadership of their oldest brother Ravi. They live on a farmhouse among animals. They all fall in love with a group of six women. All seven brothers are being orphaned and uneducated. It is one of the best old Hindi comedy movies as i see it and have done good business at the box-office and proven to be a HIT.

This movie is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Saqib Ranjha. It was released in 1994 and stars Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor. The movie was nominated for 1995 Filmfare Awards in four categories; Best film (Vinay Kumar Sinha), Best Director (Rajkumar Santoshi), Best Actor (Aamir Khan), and Best Comedian (Shakti Kapoor). It is the story of two men competing for the hand of a heiress to get drawn into love – and into trying to save her from an evil criminal. The climax takes place in Gogo’s liar, where the boys try to control the situation along with Ram.

This movie is directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Ramesh Taurani. It was released in 1995 and stars Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Syed Bablu Uddin, Shakti Kapoor and Kader Khan. This movie is the remake of a 1993 Tamil film Chinna Mapillai.Gharjode decides to teach Hoshiyar chand a lesson. He meets a coolie called Raju and they go to Hoshiyar chand’s village pretending to be a rich family.Hoshiyar is impressed and he wants his daughter Malti to marry Raju. This leads to humorous situations in the climax.

15. Pushpaka Vimana(The Love Chariot)(1987)

This movie is directed, produced, screenplay, and story by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. It was released in 1987 and stars Kamal Hassan, Amala, Tinu Anand, Farida Jalal, P.L. Narayana,  K.S Ramesh, Pratap Pothan and Loknath. The film gained highly positive reviews and remained a box office hit. The film has received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film, providing Wholesome Entertainment, and the Filmfare Award South for Best film. The film premiered at the International Film Festival of India. The film is also listed among CNN-IBN’s hundred greatest Indian films of all time. The movie follows an unnamed, almost penniless and unemployed youth whose fortunes change when he stumbles upon a millionaire drunk by the roadside. He takes the millionaire prisoner in his house and assumes his identity to taste the luxury of a five-star hotel.

16. Bawarchi(1972)

The movie is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and stars Rajesh Khanna, Jaya Badhuri Asrani, A.K. Hangal, Usha Kiran, and Durga Khote in supporting roles and was released in 1972. They contain no violence or obscenities, and focus on spreading family values and morals through clean comedy. This movie is inspired by the Bengali film Galpa Holeo Satyi (1996) by Tapan Sinha. The Squabbling Sharma family has a dubious reputation for not having any cooks last there for more than a few months due to the ill treatment of their servants. Ironically named Shanti Niwas, the family’s disrepute spread to such an extent that no one wanted to be employed as a cook in their home, ironically named Shanti Niwas . It is one of the tip-top old Hindi comedy movies which i also liked the most. You have to learn something from that.

17. New Delhi(1956)

The movie is directed and produced by Mohan Segal .It was released in 1956 and stars Kishore Kumar, Vijayanthimala, Jabeen Jalil, Nana Palsikar, Nazir Hussain, Prabhu Dayal, Dhumal, Mumtaz Begum. It is a black-and-white romantic comedy movie.In this movie, a Punjabi boy comes from Jullender to Delhi but is unable to find a place to as everywhere he goes people want to give their room only to a person of their caste.Desperate, Anand masquerades as a Tamilian, Anand Kumaraswamy, and finds a family place to stay. In the end, the truth about Janki/Mohini also comes out and now that both the groups have shed their prejudices Anand marries Janki. Complications, impersonations and moral dilemmas arise when a Punjabi pretends to be a Tamil in order to obtain accommodation in New Delhi.

18. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro(1983)

It was released in 1983 and stars Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Bhakti Barve, Satish Shah, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Satish Kaushik, Neena Gupta, Ashok Banthia. Kundan Shah won the 1984 Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film Of a Director for his work. Indiatime Movies ranks the film amongst the Top 25 Must see Bollywood Films. In this movie, two friends, attempting to start-up their own photo studio, come across shady dealing, corruption, and murder, and must fight to bring the guilty to light. The climax is set upon a stage dramatisation of the Mahabharata, particularly the enactment of the Draupadi Cheer-Haran. To make things more hilarious, a new act that was a romance between Salim and Anarkali was also introduced.

19. Bato Baton Mein(1979)

This movie is directed and produced by Basu Chatterjee. It is a 1979 romantic comedy film starring Amol Palekar, Tina Ambani, Pearl Padamsee, Asrani, David, Ranjit Choudhary. In this movie a man and women meet and fall in love with each other, but problems occur when thoughts of marriage arise. Rosie Perreira is an overly anxious widow, living with her violin-obsessed son, Shabi, and a lovely daughter, Nancy, who she would like to marry to a wealthy young man. At the end, Tony feels that he loves Nancy and cannot live without her, then Nancy also confesses her love for him and they get married happily. All tracks of this film were composed by Rajesh Roshan. At least three of the four songs became quite popular. The movie did an average business.

20. Namak Halaal(1982)

The movie is directed by Prakash Mehra and produced by Satyendra Pal. It is one of the finest old Hindi comedy movies released in 1982 and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Smita Patil, Parveen Babi, Shashi Kapoor. The music is by Bappi Lehiri. The movie became a Blockbuster at the box office and went on to become a golden jubilee hit. It was also remade in Tamil. Young Arjun (Amitabh Bachchan) was brought up by his Daddu (Paternal grandfather) (Om Prakash). His Daddu decides for him to go to the city in search of a new job and life. While in the city, he meets up with Bhairon who guides him into an interview in a 5-star hotel owned by Raja.
