There are many movies like Bollywood movies, Hollywood movies, Bengali movies, Tollywood movies, Pakistani movies, Punjabi movies, and so on. It’s been a long time since I wrote an article on Pakistani movies. Here, I am back with an article on the Top 14 best Pakistani Movies of 2017 which you must watch if you are a fan of Pakistani movies.
The movies mentioned below gained very good ratings. I am sure you guys will love those movies. The numbers here are in any random order and do not suggest any level of greatness in the movie. Best Pakistani Movies of 2017
1. Saawan (July 2017)
Saawan is one of the best Pakistani movies of 2017 which you should watch. The movie was directed by Farhan Alam and written by Mashood Qadri. The movie involves suspense and drama starring Saleem Mairaj, Tipu Sharif, Imran Aslam, Syed Karam Abbas, Arif Bahalim, Najiba Faiz in lead roles. The movie is based on a true story of a disabled child who faces difficulties in the deserts of Pakistan. It was selected as the Pakistani entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
2. Na Maloom Afraad 2 (2 September 2017)
Na Maloom Afraad 2 is one of the best Pakistani movies of 2017 which was directed by Nabeel Qureshi. The movie was released on 2 September 2017 starring Fahad Mustafa, Javed Sheikh, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Hania Amir, and Urwa Hocane in the lead role. This movie is a sequel to 2014’s comedy thriller movie Na Maloom Afraad. The movie was released on Eid al-Adha on 2 September 2017. This movie is about three unlucky souls who plan a big robbery and things go uncontrolled along the way.
3. Verna (17 November 2017)
Verna is also one of the best hit Pakistani movies. The movie received good ratings from IMDb and received positive reviews from critics. The movie was released on 17 November 2017 starring Mahira Khan and debutant Haroon Shahid in the lead role. The movie was directed, written, and produced by Shoaib Mansoor under his banner Shoman Productions.
It is a story of a young couple living in Islamabad, and how their lives change with a kidnapping that takes place on a sunny and pleasant day in the F9 park.
4. Punjab Nahi Jaungi (1 September 2017)
Punjab Nahi Jaungi is one of the highest-grossing Pakistani movies of 2017. The movie was released on 1 September 2017 and stars Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat and Urwa Hocane in lead roles. This movie was directed by Nadeem Beyg. This movie involves both romance and comedy together. The story of the movie is about a love triangle, between the lead characters, and the movie also presents the Punjabi culture of Pakistan.
5. Yalghaar (26 June 2017)
Yalghaar (means Attack or Assault) is a Pakistani war-epic movie that was directed, produced, and written by Hassan Rana. The movie was released on 26 June 2017 starring Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Bilal Ashraf, Armeena Khan, Ayesha Omer and many others. The movie is based on the true story of the Pakistan Army’s Swat Operation.
6. Rangreza (21 December 2017)
Rangreza is one of the best Pakistani movies of 2017 which you must watch. It is a Pakistani musical romantic movie which was directed by Amir Mohiuddin. The movie was released on 21 December 2017 starring Gohar Rasheed, Bilal Ashraf, Urwa Hocane, and Ghana Ali in the lead role. In this movie, the conflict arises when Reshmi, a young woman who has been engaged since childhood to her cousin, is courted by a famous pop star.
7. Thora Jee Le (20 January 2017)
Thora Jee Le is a Pakistani coming of age movie directed and written by Rafay Rashdi. The movie was released on 20 January 2017 starring Rizwan Ali Jaffri, Ramsha Khan, Bilal Abbas, Fatima Shah Jillani, Kasim Khan, Salman Faisal, and Ahsan Mohsin Ikram in the lead role. This movie is about self-discovery, friendship, trust, and a connection between friends, who venture on a journey of a lifetime only to discover that FATE has different plans for all of them.
8. Geo Sar Utha Kay (11 August 2017)
Geo Sar Utha Kay is a Pakistani drama movie directed and produced by Nadeem Cheema under the banner of Cheema Films. The movie was released on 11 August 2017 starring Babar Ali, Shafqat Cheema, Nayyar Ejaz and Rashid Mehmood in lead roles. The movie is based around actual events involving the Chottu Gang of Rajanpur in the Kacha area of southern Punjab, Pakistan.
9. Project Ghazi (14 July 2017)
Project Ghazi (meaning Hero and Conqueror) is one of the best Pakistani superhero movies which were directed by Nadir Shah. The movie was released on 14 July 2017 starring Humayun Saeed, Sheheryar Munawar, Syra Shehroz, Adnan Jaffar, and Talat Hussain in the lead role. The movie revolves around a team of soldiers and scientists who aim to produce a new breed of advanced weaponized soldiers code-named Project Ghazi. To know more, you have to watch the movie.
10. Arth- The Destination (21 December 2017)
Arth- The Destination aka Arth 2 is a Pakistani romantic drama movie directed by Shaan Shahid. The movie was released on 21 December 2017 starring Shaan Shahid, Uzma Hassan, Humaima Malick, and Mohib Mirza in lead roles. The movie was inspired by Mahesh Bhatt’s 1982 movie Arth.
11. Mehrunisa V Lub U (26 June 2017)
Mehrunisa V Lub U is a Pakistani romantic, comedy movie directed and written by Yasir Nawaz. The movie was released on 26 June 2017 starring Sana Javed, Danish Taimoor and Javed Sheikh in lead roles. This movie was released on Eid-Ul-Fitr 2017. It is one of the highest-grossing Pakistani movies of 2017. It is really a good movie to watch.
12. Chupan Chupai (29 December 2017)
Chupan Chupai is a Pakistani comedy thriller movie directed by Mohsin Ali. The movie was released on 29 December 2017 starring Ahsan Khan, Neelam Muneer, and Ali Rizvi in lead roles. This movie is a Pakistani remake of the 2013 Indian Tamil language movie Soodhu Kavvum. Director Rohit Shetty has also been signed to direct the Hindi remake.
13. Chalay Thay Saath (21 April 2017)
Chalay Thay Saath is a Pakistani romance movie directed by Umer Adil. The movie was released on 21 April 2017 starring Syra Shehroz, Kent S Leung, Zhalay Sarhadi, and Mansha Pasha in lead roles. The movie is based on the character of Resham, a doctor who is on a journey to discover her past and future alongside her friends. To know more, you have to watch the movie.
14. Balu Mahi (10 February 2017)
Balu Mahi is also one of the best and highest-grossing Pakistani movies of 2017. The movie was directed by Haissam Hussain and released on 10 February 2017. The movie includes Osman Khalid Butt, Ainy Jaffri, and Sadaf Kanwal in lead roles. In this movie, when a young man crashes the wrong wedding, the bride takes the opportunity and together they make a run for it.
