2. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a Science fiction+ adventure+action+thriller movie directed by Francis Lawrence. The movie was released on November 22, 2013, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz and many other talented actors.
This movie is still one of the best book-to-movie adaptation ever. I can’t believe this was the best movie in the saga… One was a good beginning but catching fire just blew my mind away. Since I saw this trailer for the first time I knew it was going to be great. I went to the movie theater to watch it and was even better than I could have imagined.

4. Escape Plan (2013)
Escape Plan is one of my favorite action thriller movies 2013 which was directed by Mikael Hafstrom. The movie was directed by October 18, 2013, starring Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Caviezel, 50 Cent, Vinnie Jones and many others. In the movie, Sylvester and Arnold are in the ultimate, inescapable prison and they spend most of their time walking together, looking around furtively and talking openly about their super secret plan to escape.
You don’t have to be a 20 or 30-year-old actor to do well in this kind of action movie. Stallone and Schwarzenegger were both fantastic in the movie. It’s a fully action thriller movie and I really liked it a lot. If you like action and the plot of escaping a high-security prison, then this movie is for you. I wasn’t gonna expect much from the movie but when I saw it, it was surprisingly good! Very interesting and the prison was pretty well designed and Jim Caviezel as Warden Hobbes was surprisingly threatening.

This movie is overwhelmed by its nonstop action sequence. The movie received mixed reviews from critics as well as from the audience. But according to me, at least gave one chance to this movie. It’s a good movie to watch.

Stripped of his healing factor, Wolverine must battle deadly samurai while struggling with guilt. The movie was the first in the X-Men movie series not to feature the word “X-Men” in the title. Elysium is a science fiction action thriller movie directed by Neill Blomkamp. The movie was released on August August 9, 2013, starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna and many others. The visuals are phenomenal are truly are the absolute best part of the movie Elysium. From the ultra-sleek layout of the space habitat Elysium, to how the many robots that move and walk around, to the design of the various spacecraft and to the variety of futuristic weapons used in the movie, Blomkamp’s visual knowledge are unparalleled and is a true wonder to behold and to see come alive on-screen. Fans of Blomkamp’s District 9, or Matt Damon, or anyone who loves a good science fiction film will thoroughly enjoy this gritty action movie of a dystopian future.
In terms of filmmaking, Blomkamp presents Elysium with a slick presentation in a similar fashion to District 9, but to also blockbuster type movies. The movie Elysium stands tall and proud in the sci-fi film universe. Fans of Blomkamp’s District 9, or Matt Damon, or anyone who loves a good science fiction film will thoroughly enjoy this gritty action movie of a dystopian future. The movie Elysium stands tall and proud in the sci-fi film universe. Highly recommended.
12. Snitch (2013)
Snitch is one of the drama action thriller movies 2013 which was directed by Ric Roman Waugh. The movie was released on February 22, 2013, starring Dwayne Johnson, Barry Pepper, Susan Sarandon, benjamin Bratt, Jon Bernthal, Rafi Gavron and many others. Taking a break from his all-out action hero roles, Dwayne Johnson shows his acting talent as an ordinary man pushed to extraordinary measures when his son’s freedom (and life – at the hands of his fellow prisoners) is put in jeopardy. It is a credit to Johnson that he can switch to this alternative, grittier role, providing a much-needed push for him to take a step closer to more serious acting and a step away from his ‘The Rock’ persona.
When Jason Collins is arrested for possessing narcotics, his friend implicates him as a dealer in order to reduce his own sentence and Jason now faces the mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in jail. When Jason admits that he doesn’t know any other dealers and refuses to wrongly implicate any of his friends, he is unable to do anything to reduce the sentence. Jason’s estranged father, John Matthews, is desperate to help his son and offers to arrange a set-up in order for the police to arrest a dealer. With the stakes so high, John soon finds himself out of his depth, having to rely on his wits to survive in the dangerous world he now finds himself in.
13. Snowpiercer (2013)
Snowpiercer is a 2013 science fiction action drama thriller movie directed by Bong Joon-ho and written by Bong and Kelly Masterson. The movie features Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell and many others. Joon-ho Bong’s first English-language film turns out to be a bleak story about the future (or the present, perhaps) of the human race. Snowpierceris based on a French graphic novel about a future dystopian Earth that has fallen into a worldwide failure of ultra-cold temperatures and snow.
A single train running on a continuous motion engine makes its way on a round-the-world track taking one year to make the circuit. On board are earth’s only survivors, divided into the working class at the tail section and an aristocracy up front. The technical challenges of making an action thriller set entirely inside a train must have been great. Bong is a master of camera manipulation. He has a brilliant sense of space and timing and location. His action directing is beautifully organized and choreographed through the whole film. I’m not sure his camera ever “crosses the line.” That is to say, in every shot, the direction toward the rear of the train is always left of the frame so we never forget where everyone came from and where they’re headed.
14. Riddick (2013)
Riddick is a science fiction action thriller movie directed by David Twohy. The movie was released on September 6, 2013, starring Vin Diesel, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista and many others. Riddick is the third installment of the Riddick series. Despite the flaws of the previous films Pitch Black (2000) and The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), I found them quite enjoyable nonetheless. Riddick (Vin Diesel) is now Lord Marshall of the Necromongers but refuses to swear into their faith. In exchange for the location of the planet Furya, he strikes a deal with Vaako but is soon double-crossed, and left on a deserted planet.
As you probably know, the character Riddick is a hunted fugitive with a huge bounty on his head. He is stuck on the planet so he quickly devises a plan to draw bounty hunters there so he can “hop” a ride home. Riddick will not be remembered as an example of the best of the cinematic art, but it is an entertaining movie in the sci-fi/action genre, and Diesel is generally a convincing tough guy.
