Royal Bengal Rahasya is a detective thriller movie directed by Sandip Ray and written by Satyajit Ray. The movie is based on Royal Bengal Rahasya by Satyajit Ray. The movie features Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Saheb Bhattacharya, Bibhu Bhattacharya, Bhaswar Chatterjee, Paran Bandyopadhyay, and many others.

Royal Bengal Rahashya is the fifth and final installment of the New Feluda series and the sequel to Gorosthaney Sadbhan. The biggest praise one can shower on Royal Bengal Rahasya is that it reminds the viewer of the first two Feluda movies made by the master Satyajit Ray himself. This is one of the best Bengali movies of 2011 and undoubtedly the best Feluda movie of the recent past. In the movie, you will see a new style of keeping the suspense till the end.

Royal Bengal Rahasya is a film made with care, case in point being the spotless casting in the character roles. The outdoor sequences are well shot, capturing natural beauty and reminding old viewers of the additional attraction of Feluda stories being captivating travel diaries which Satyajit Ray brought out in the first Feluda movie, Sonar Kella (The Golden Fortress) as well.

10. Ebar Shabor (2015)

best bengali movies 2015
Indian Detective Movies

Ebar Shabor (English: Now It’s Winter) is a Bengali Detective suspense mystery thriller movie directed by Arindam Sil and written by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay. The movie is based on the detective story “Rwin” by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay. This is the second directorial venture of the master film director after the blockbuster Aborto. The movie features Saswata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Abir Chatterjee, Payel Sarkar, Ritwick Chakraborty, June Malia, Debolina Dutta, and many others.

The screenplay has been written in such a way that it unfolds the story very interestingly by introducing each character one by one and along with their introduction and their interaction with Shabor. The story also proceeds in flashbacks. While the first half has more comic moments, the second half concentrates more on romance and emotion. No matter the length of each of the character’s screen time but every character has something special about him or her which makes you notice them and keeps you engaged with the story. By the time the story ends.

The audiences are so engaged with each of the characters that they don’t mind who is the actual murderer rather they are keen to know what happened after that with each of the characters. As a director, Arindam Sil should get full marks for choosing an interesting story and presenting it in an engaging way taking good performance from his cast and crew. To sum up, it is an engaging suspense+thriller with some interesting characters played by good performers. It should be watched to encourage a good director to make good Bengali films in the future too.

Byomkesh Bakshi is an Indian crime detective movie on Bengali fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi. The movie was directed by Anjan Dutt and produced by Kaustuv Ray. The movie features Abir Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, Ushasie Chakraborty, Kaushik Sen, Rudranil Ghosh, and many others. The film spawned three sequels to date, titled Abar Byomkesh, Byomkesh Phire Elo, and Byomkesh Bakshi, which were released on 23 March 2012, 19 December 2014, and 26 October 2015 respectively.

This movie boasts eye-catching cinematography. The frames are beautifully rendered keeping in mind the time frame and more importantly the subject matter. The editing is sharp and the background music apt. In short, this is one movie in which I really found it difficult to find any flaws. The source material is near perfect, keeping in mind the source material. This is one of those rare thrillers which you can see again and again.

The movies which are related to the character “Byomkesh Bakshi” are all related to detective movies. I am not going to mention each and every movie of Byomkesh Bakshi here. You may check out all the Bengali movies of Byomkesh Bakshi. The Byomkesh Bakshi series is really good to watch. Without Byomkesh Bakshi, this list will not be completed. If you are really a fan of Indian Detective movies, then you must watch all the movies of Byomkesh Bakshi.

8. 36 China Town (2006)

36 Chinatown is one of my favorite detective Bollywood movies which is full of suspense and thriller directed by Abbas-Mustan and produced by Subhash Ghai. The movie was released on 5 May 2006 starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Upen Patel, Johnny Lever, Isha Koppikar, and Paresh Rawal in the lead role. The movie is all about a murder mystery in which a police officer investigates to find the murderer of a wealthy casino owner, Sonia Chang.

It is a popcorn-type movie full of suspense, fun, thriller, a little bit of comedy, drama, romance, horror, humor, and crime fiction. In the end, it was surprising to see the killers. I really love that movie and I hope you love it too. It is full-on, a mysterious and suspenseful story. I watched it many times and still I like it. It is one of the best Indian detective movies in Bollywood I have ever seen. The movie is a remake of the English movie Once Upon a Crime in 1992 and a Bollywood adaptation of the 1960 Italian movie Crimen.

7. Bees Saal Baad (1962)

source: www.wikipedia.org

Bees Saal Baad is a Bollywood psychological detective thriller movie that was directed by Biren Nag and produced by Hemant Kumar. The movie features Biswajeet, Waheeda Rehman, Manmohan Krishna, Madan Puri, and Asit Sen. Bees Saal Baad and is a very loose adaptation of the Bengali hit thriller Jighansa, which was based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles. I have read this whole novel and its story was really interesting. I recommend you to read this novel if you are a true detective movie lover. Also, don’t forget to share your experience with us.

Though everybody (me included) says that Bees Saal Baad is a remake of The Hound of the Baskervilles, the films are very different. True, they do share similarities: the debauched ancestor, whose debauchery has caused a curse to fall on the family; the mysterious murders of the lords of that land; the man in disguise; the woman who sobs in the night; and the servant who shines a light out into the wastelands.

Beyond that, though, this is a very different story. Bees Saal Baad is a very Hindi film. Everything one has come to expect of a Hindi film, regardless of genre – the comic side character, the songs, the romance between the hero and a heroine – are here, and in place. Here is the drama. There is a little bit of melodrama. But the motive for the murders and the singing is vastly different; the detective is a clown, not a Sherlock Holmes, and there’s much more masala all around.

Even if you have seen The Hound of the Baskervilles and don’t want to watch what you think is a plagiarized version, I’d suggest you give Bees Saal Baad a try – at the most, I’d say it’s inspired. Not plagiarized.

5. Joi Baba Felunath (1979)

Joi Baba Felunath (The Elephant God) is one of the best Bengali detective mystery movie directed by Satyajit Ray and produced by R.D.B Productions. The movie features Soumitra Chatterjee, Santosh Dutta, Siddhartha Chatterjee, Utpal Dutt, Haradhan Bandopadhyay, and Biplab Chatterjee in lead roles. The film is based on the famous Feluda novel of the same name written by Ray himself. It is Feluda’s second film, as well as the sequel of Sonar Kella directed by Satyajit Ray.

Feluda (Soumitra Chatterjee) – the private detective created by Ray himself – is on vacation with his sidekicks Topshe (Siddhartha Chatterjee) and Lalmohan (Santosh Dutta) when a priceless idol of the Hindu God Ganesha is mysteriously stolen from a local household. Feluda confronts his biggest enemy – the ruthless businessman Maganlal Meghraj (Utpal Dutt) – to recover the antiquity and unravel the mystery. It’s a classic detective movie, it maintains a brisk pace throughout and the climax is shot on the banks of the River Ganges.

The feluda series includes many movies which are totally related to indian detective movies. You may check out these movies if you are searching for more detective movies. The movies which I am going to mentioned here are really good movies to watch. The movies are Tintorettor Jishu (2008), Bombaiyer Bombete (2003), Baksho Rahashya (2001), Badshahi Angti (2014), Gorosthaney Sabdhan (2010), Kailashey Kelenkari (2007), Gangtokey Gondogol, Doorbeen (2014), and Royal Bengal Rahasya (2011). I am not going to mention all the details of these Feluda movies. In this list, I have mentioned 1-2 movies of the Feluda series in detail.

The movie features Prosenjit Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Raima Sen, Abir Mukherjee, and Gautam Ghosh in the lead roles. The movie starts with a prostitute being killed one night and the police find the body with a Bengali poem printed out on paper.

It seems that it was the fourth murder in the city in the past few months. The poems were found near all the dead bodies. If you are a fan of detective thriller movies, it would be easy for you to guess the climax in the first ten minutes itself. The movie received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification for adult language.

Memories is an Indian Malayalam crime thriller detective type of movie which was directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by PK Muralidharan and Santha Murali. The movie features Prithviraj, Vijayaraghavan, Mia George, and Meghana Raj in the lead role. A serious alcoholic cop who can’t get over the disturbing visuals of the killing of his wife and daughter is the main focus of director Jeethu Joseph’s Memories. It’s an engaging movie that has been well made. ‘

Memories’ has at least a couple of stunning moments and is one of those films that will have you gripping your seats in anticipation. The movie keeps your interest level pretty high up the scale. It’s a treat for Prithviraj fans for sure, as the hero just rules the screen with a superb performance. It is to be appreciated that the actor in him has decided to go for meaningful roles of late, other than sticking to his comfort zone. Grab a pack of popcorn, sit back and enjoy this movie.

1. Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015)

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is one of the top and best suspense movies in Bollywood directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Aditya Chopra and Banerjee. The movie was released on 3 April 2015 starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Swastika Mukherjee, and Anand Tiwari in the lead role. The movie is based on the fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi created by the Bengali writer. Films like Byomkesh Bakshy deserve a sequel. Such perfect movies aren’t made frequently in this country. Sushant Singh Rajput did his character very well in the movie.

I watched it again yesterday and shall watch it again and again whenever I get a chance. And, of course, one of the reasons is the acting of Neeraj Kabi. This movie is a great mix of noir and detective thrillers. The movie is full of suspense and thrillers. The movie gained a positive review from the critics as well as from audiences. This mystery is the one you would want to solve. The dialogue of Dr.Guha ” Bakshy Babu meri Dosti nahi le sake, toh meri Dushmani Kaise loge” is awesomely presented by Neeraj Kabi. Must watch the movie for every detective movie’s fans. It is one of the best Indian detective movies I have ever seen.
