Do Bigha Zamin (1953) has been directed by Bengali movie director Bimal Roy and is set in the India of the mid-1950’s. Featuring Balraj Sahni, Nirupa Roy, Nazir Hussain, Ratan Kumar, Jagdeep, Murad, Nana Palsikar and Meena Kumari, the movie portrays the difficulties of the people of rural India, post independence. The story bases on the battle of Shambu (Sahni) to hold his property from the grasp of the Zamindar. An account of punishments and bargains, Shambu puts on stake all that he claimed and leaves for Kolkata (then Calcutta) just to find a radically new life loaded with trials.

The movie very precisely uncovers the glaring difference between rural and urban India of the period, bringing out, with full trustworthiness, the decay of the agriculture sector with the rise of capitalism. There are excellent images in the movie that draw out the abuse and difficulties of the characters with genuine meaning and give the real picture of their lives. This movie became the first Indian movie to win the International Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and the first movie to win the Filmfare Best Movie Award. 2. Mother India

Be that as it may, the vicious Russell threatens to raise the lagaan triple unless the villagers can beat his men at a game of cricket, in which case he’ll lift charges on the whole region for a time of three years. Bhuvan accepts the challenge, yet there’s an issue — nobody in Champaner knows how to play cricket. Peepli Live is one of the best movies which depends on farmers and explores the topic of “farmers suicides“. The movie was written and directed by Anusha Rizvi and starring Omkar Das Manikpuri, Raghubir Yadav, Shalini Vatsa, Malaika Shenoy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Naseeruddin Shah in a lead role.

The movie centers on the poorest of the poor in India and it not just highlights the situation of a farmer in a little corner of a large country but also tosses light on the varied people who misuse the circumstance to their advantage, right from the politicians to the bureaucrats to the television reporters to the neighborhood individuals. Actually, Peepli Live makes an assault on the working of media in India and how media people, depicted as vultures, by and large stoop to the least levels to increase the ratings of their TV channels.
Any movie either can possibly touch you, or engage you, or make you think. In that sense, Peepli Live does a good job of telling villager Natha’s story with a reasonable sprinkling of humor and touching moments. It is a movie that would not only appeal to Indians but is sure to reach out to audiences beyond India.

Summer 2007 is a movie which was directed by Suhail Tatari and features Sikandar Kher, Yuvika Chaudhary, Gul Panag, Arjan Bajwa, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Swetha Menon and many other in a supporting role. The movie tells the story of a gang of five medical students, a mixed pack of characters, all genuinely well off, for the most part, self-centered except for Gul Panag. To escape a minor troublesome issue in college, they choose to go for their mandatory rural service with the arrangement being to pick a place near Goa, where they can relax and so forth.

They, nonetheless, arrive smack blast in the middle of a spate of farmer suicides, to join an apparently indifferent doctor, a nearby toughie who is the grain supplier cum cash moneylender of the village and his goon-like son, who is without any help in charge of no female help willing to work in their family unit. How they gradually become involved in the life and the issues of the village is the concentration of the second half. It’s a good movie to watch.
